Niniejsza książka jest luźną kontynuacją "Polskich szpiegów", którzy ukazali się nakładem wydawnictwa Bellona rok temu.
Przedstawione są w niej bardzo różne aspekty "szpiegowskiej roboty" i mocno zróżnicowane postacie bohaterów. Pokazani zostali zarówno szpiedzy z okresu II Rzeczpospolitej czy II wojny światowej, jak i też agenci działający w epoce PRL. Ludzie, którzy dla rodzinnego kraju oddali wszystko łącznie z życiem, jak też powszechnie uznawani za zdrajców. Nie zabrakło tzw. nielegałów, czyli oficerów działających pod przykryciem i wykorzystujących cudze tożsamości, ale także agentów służących pod własnym nazwiskiem. Oficerów do końca wiernych przysiędze złożonej władzom II Rzeczpospolitej, jak i agentów z czasów Polski Ludowej. A także ludzi, którzy z różnych względów działali na rzecz obcych wywiadów, za co czasami płacili najwyższą cenę
